Nahtam is derived from an Arabic word which means "We Care" in English. Nahtam Social Responsibility has been set up in the UAE to address evolving social needs of UAE citizens, residents and the poorest communities around the world.

It is a private voluntary organization, driven by 3 committed individuals, namely Ebrahim Al Haddar, a UAE national, Isabelle Le Bon-Poonoosamy, a Mauritian national and George V. Itty, an Indian national.
